Biography
The Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Program at Good Shepherd Penn Partners(GSPP) Penn Therapy and Fitness offers a variety of treatment options for those with symptoms of a pelvic floor disorder.Physical therapy treatment; includes an evaluation of the pelvic floor and associated muscles and structures, including biofeedback. The therapist will develop a comprehensive treatment plan; in order to help control the urge to urinate, improve and control unwanted loss of urine/stool, control frequent urination, improve constipation of stool or reduce pain in the pelvic region.
Treatment may include:
- Biofeedback training
- Dilator training
- Education on dietary changes
- Electrical stimulation
- Exercises; for the pelvic floor, abdominal, back, leg and hip muscles
- Hot or cold application for pain relief
- Manual soft tissue stretching techniques
- Patient education; for self-care techniques
- Pelvic floor muscle coordination and retraining
- Postural education
