Hello! My name is Claire Crossman (she/her) and I am a marriage and family therapist (MFT). I am a recent graduate of Thomas Jefferson University’s Couple and Family Therapy program with my Master of Family Therapy. I am an associate therapist working towards licensure in Pennsylvania and Virginia. I believe in the importance of collaboration and trust, which is why every step of this process will be led by you. You are the expert of your story – and I’m here to help you learn more about it. We will create an approach to therapy that fits your goals and lifestyle so that it aligns seamlessly with your day-to-day.
I use a blend of different therapeutic approaches in my practice. In working with me, you might experience approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and more. You are always in control of this process, I protect client freedom and choice in every aspect of treatment. That being said, I am someone who will challenge you to grow and reach for new perspectives as appropriate.
I have a background of working with adolescents, teens, and families. I can help your teen process their newly discovered sexual desires, expression, or orientation in a safe and supportive manner. If you are searching for therapy to help your child navigate their changing bodies or understanding more about how to communicate with your child about sexual behaviors, I am here to help guide you along the way. For the family, I can aid those who are seeking to increase communication and openness within the family to discuss emerging sexual behaviors. I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment for your teenager to honestly communicate about their sexual thoughts, feelings, and desires.
We do not exist alone – we exist within the context of the greater system. There is so much that influences adolescent expression of sexuality and sexual desire, from society to peers. I am here to help your child navigate what feels right to them, and help them feel in control of their life. By understanding who we are at our core, we can feel more empowered to go out into the world and make it our own. That is my ultimate goal – to help your child feel confident in who they are and how they can generate change in the world around them. For families, my goal is to open positive lines of communication and vulnerability so that you all feel supported by each other.
