I am the founder and director of the Center for Growth / Sex Therapy in Philadelphia (1996). My work is a combination of Imago Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Sex Therapy, Systems Theory and Social Work. I work with individuals, couples and families struggling with anxiety, depression, shame, chronic pain, panic, low self-esteem, pregnancy issues, trauma, divorce, blended families, compulsions and sexual function / dysfunction issues.
My philosophy is that each individual is unique and has the potential to achieve a fulfilling and rewarding life. There is no one best way of living; however, there are techniques and attitudes each of us can adopt to experience more pleasure and achieve an increased level of satisfaction. I define success not by how one completes a particular task, but rather by how one keeps going after a set-back. It is often only through failure that the real learning begins.
In the process of life, mistakes are inevitable. I believe that people who are motivated can learn and grow from their mistakes. It is my belief that there is no right way to go through life – only your way.
I have been practicing therapy since 1993 and conducting periodic seminars about human sexuality throughout the northeastern United States. I have created both the popular website,http://www.howtohavegoodsex.com and the clinical websites, https://www.sextherapyinphiladelphia.com and http://www.therapyinphiladelphia.com. All three of these websites have a large readership, placing them at the top of a variety of Internet search engines for their subjects. Additionally, I have been published in journals and magazines, given lectures to healthcare professionals and been featured in national periodicals and books. Lastly, I have appeared as an expert on television and radio talk shows.
I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Masters degree in Social Work, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Human Sexuality Education, a Certificate in Home and School Social Work, and a Post-Masters Certificate in Marriage Counseling & Sex Therapy. Through the American Board of Sexology, I am a board certified sexologist and through the American Association of Sex Educators Counselors and Therapists a certified sex therapist. I am Certified Imago Therapist, and a licensed clinical social worker and a member of the American Board of Marriage and Family Therapy.
