Will this relationship last?

Will this relationship last? The answer is simple, it all depends upon how determined each individual is to make the relationship work.  If two people want to make the relationship last forever, it will.  Many couples agree to disagree on many topics.  How healthy the relationship is, is a different question.  Marriage counseling / couples counseling can help each person within the relationship evaluate for himself / herself if the sacrifices that are needed to make this relationship work, worth it.

Instead of worrying about whether or not this relationship will last. Try focusing on yourself.  Use the marriage counseling / couples counseling as a way to learn more about your own issues.  What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses?  What do you need to do differently to make things work? Focus on changing yourself and giving your partner the room to make his or her own choices.  Ironically, sometimes by giving less to the other person, you are actually giving more.  Taking care of yourself is attractive to the other person because it means they do not have to worry about you.  That is sexy.  It is only when you let someone go and get to know them from a distance that they are free to come back to you.  Written by "Alex" Caroline Robboy, CAS, MSW, LCSW
