Vulva
The vulva is the entirety of the female external genitals, including the outer labia, inner labia, urethra, clitoris, mons pubis and vaginal opening.
Vulva Aesthetics Vulvas come in many different shapes, colors, textures, and sizes; and no two vulvas will look exactly alike. Symmetry – when the two sides of the vulva are exactly the same – is rare, and it is normal for one set of labia to be a different size than the other. For some female bodied people, the outer labia will completely cover the inner labia; while for others, the inner labia may protrude outside the outer labia.
Pleasure Physiology The vulva is an extremely nerve-dense area of the body that will fill with blood, get swollen, and become very sexually sensitive during arousal. Although every person enjoys different types of stimulation, dexterous movements like licking, stroking, sucking, tugging, vibration, etc. are all generally effective types of stimulation for the vulva. In terms of nerve density, the vulva has many more nerve endings than the vagina.
Pubic Hair On the vulva, pubic hair will be located on the mons pubis and outer labia after puberty. In terms of function, pubic hair serves to trap pheromones, which can help with the process of arousal. Although trimming or removal of pubic hair serves no hygienic function, some will remove/trim pubic hair because they enjoy the aesthetics of hairless/trimmed vulva. Some cite that removing pubic hair aids in increasing sexual sensitivity while others find the removal of pubic hair actually makes friction during sexual activity more irritating.
