Question: Can spermicides cause birth defects?

Answer: False.

With that being said, given that the two of you are pregnant, even if lubrication is needed, spermicides are not. Spermicides are designed to diminish the risk of the woman getting pregnant - and clearly, the woman is already pregnant. Thus, I suggest that the two of you switch to a water based lubricant, like KY Jelly or Astroglide.
