Area of Expertise I work well with people who can't imagine that anything short of a miracle will improve their sex life. Being in a committed relationship is hard work. Not having any fun while living in one is murder. I teach a lot, and like to bring laughter to my classroom, because if sex is too "serious" then learning doesn't happen. It is the same thing in the therapy room. It is deadly serious business having a miserable sexual relationship, and you can assume you'll fail miserably as things get better, but also expect that you'll learn a lot and have some fun. If not, what's the point?

Philosophy People don't have 'sexual problems.' They have relationship problems that show up in sex (even if that relationship is with someone long dead). We say that "my spouse doesn't like sex," but it is more accurate to say that they don't like the sex they are having with the person they are having it with. Bad sex is like a bad meal: one just doesn't want a second helping. Fortunately, if one is flexible, you can hammer out a relationship you want with a person you respect. Hopefully, this includes YOU in the equation. Then, good sex  follows. I have no "losers" come to sex therapy. Just people wanting the best out of life. If you live in the Hilltowns of Ashfield, Chesterfield, Cummington, Goshen, Plainfield, Windsor, Williamsburg or Worthington, you won't be turned away for lack of income. Winters are hard enough here without having to tolerate a bad sexual life. *smile*  I'll work with folks from other places as well. People have driven 21/2 hours to see me, and you have to appreciate that kind of dedication (and cost of gas...), and I see them for longer chunks of  time.

I've also written things about myself and philosophy about life and the changes that a fossil fuel-depleted future will bring at www.peakoilblues.com  Those aware of Peak Oil may think sex therapy is frivolous, with all that people face in the future, but think again. The most important thing you can do to prepare for a difficult and unpredictable financial and energy-depleted future is to strengthen your relationships and increase the passion in your life.  (It's also free, cost-wise...)

Degrees / License Psy.D., Antioch New England Graduate School, where I was later the Director of the Master's Program in Counseling Psychology and now teach Human Sexuality and Sex Therapy in the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. I also teach at St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT and  Cambridge College in Cambridge & Springfield, MA.

Professional Organizations AASECT-certified: Sexuality Educator, Diplomate of Sex Therapy Clinical Member: American Association of Marriage & Family Therapy; Executive Board Member - Massachusetts State Division of American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy - 1992-1996;
---- Credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology;
---- Executive Editor for website: www.peakoilblues.com exploring the unique social and emotional challenges we face when confronted with the realities of a post-petroleum world often called "Peak Oil."

Other Information
I take Blue Cross-Blue Shield Indemnity and a few others, but insurance plans aren't often flexible in the way I work. I charge a monthly fee, rather than have clients pay per session. This way, when I see you more often, it doesn't 'break the bank,' and when we meet less often, it doesn't break mine. My sessions are between 60-90 minutes for individuals and 1 1/2 to 2 hours for couples, because settling-in takes longer than 45 minutes and more work gets done in longer sessions. It is usually clear to all when the session is over. I also prefer to have at least one visit in your home at some point during our early meetings, but we can schedule that at your convenience.

I provide supervision and continuing education courses in human sexuality, & communications.

Personally, I am porky of bod, I enjoy my life and my marriage (when he doesn't drive me crazy) and I have a German Shepherd Dog name Greta and Coton de Tulear named Jack. I'm also a chicken farmer and have 41 heritage breeds, and a garden for a front yard.

If you are wondering where the heck Cummington is, you probably live too far away to travel here, so don't worry about it...
